Need Heirloom Tomato Seedlings Southern Ontario? "Tomato Days 2015" -May 16, 17 18th...and beyond

Who names an event "Tomato Days"?
Well, I guess I do.
In this age of false advertising, exaggerated promises and just plain annoying marketing, I feel a compulsion to keep it simple.
Hence the name and the very premise of my business. Simple.

"Tomato Days" marks the beginning of my seedling sales and this year the date falls early as the Victoria Long weekend on which I always hold my sale falls early too.
I hope to see you in Wellandport/Wainfleet on May 16th, 17th or 18th. But don't despair. I understand many people have plans that weekend and it marks the beginning of the camping season. Please feel free to come out after the long weekend too....as long as I have plants, I will continue to sell. Bear in mind I never run out.

I won't be selling before the sale though. The farm is closed unless you are picking up advance orders or need seed.

Mollie assessing a tiny tomato plant

There will be hundreds of varieties of heirloom and open pollinated tomato seedlings here. Hundreds and hundreds. How many? I have no clue. I just know it is a lot.

If you like some of the newer OP varieties like the blue tomatoes, the tiger series and the bumblebees, yes-they are here too. If you need paste tomatoes, I have 'em in a rainbow of colours.
If you want super large tomatoes, super teeny tomatoes, stripes, peachy, rippled or just plain wacky-yes I have those too.
Black, brown, red, yellow, orange, pink, purple and white? Yes they are here.

Great tasting-oh yes. I will emphasize -oh yes.

I know that you can go to garden centres now and see some heirlooms. That is a good thing...it keeps them popular and it keeps them in existence. But if you want to know about the tomatoes, it is best to come see someone who has grown them for years and knows them well. I can guide you and advise you- I have grown them all and many are from my good Niagara seed. They are acclimatized to the area.

Is it just tomatoes? Perhaps that is where the name fails.

No-it is much, much more than tomatoes. I have hot peppers, sweet peppers, eggplants, cucumbers, squash, zucchini, melons, kales, broccolis, cabbages, cauliflowers and brussels. Ground cherries, Cape gooseberries, strawberries, many basils, huckleberries, other weird berries, and this year lots of beautiful heirloom flowers. So many varieties of all of them, I sure hope you can find something new and exciting to try.
Yes-I'll have seeds

A few things to note.

If you want specific things, come on the Saturday morning. That is when the hard-core "tomatophiles" congregate and I will sell out of certain things.  Whatever I sold out of early last year, I grew in excess this year. But it is hard to predict precisely what people will purchase and what will be popular.

If you just want good tomatoes and don't care exactly what, if you don't come on the Saturday morning, I will have more time to spend with you.

The sale is rain or shine. Last year we encountered hail. But what the hail-we soldiered on.

If you are adding my address into a GPS-use: 84039 Creek Road, Wainfleet.  If you get lost, go to the Home Hardware in Wellandport. They know where I am.

We no longer have a variety store or a gas station in town. There is no banking machine in town-the closest is in Fenwick.

And please note-sales are cash or cheque only.  No credit cards, no debit.

Another way I keep it simple.

Hope to see you in May- tell your friends!

It's Ellie!
